I am very grateful to Julia for this article, because it gives me a roadmap to pursue B2B writing with my experience in public service. I'd appreciate hearing from any B2B writer who has pursued the government contracting lead. I worked in Congress for years, came home to PA for family reasons, and took AWAI's B2B courses. I've had a rough time deciding what sector to pursue for B2B writing, because congressional staffers are generalists, due to the nature of the job. We must be able to serve our Boss in issue areas across the board. I served one Member on the Transportation Committee, for instance, working on policy affecting the 6 modes of transportation: road, air, rail, maritime, intermodal and pipeline. But legislating transportation policy is not hands-on experience working in the transportation industry, as is usually the case with B2B writers who worked in a particular industry, such as IT or health care, and who now write B2B copy. Julia's suggestion gives me hope that I can apply my B2B training with my experience in public service. Thank You again, Julia, and Thank You to B2B Writing Success for posting this article which is really helpful to people who might have a similar background to mine. Sincerely, Marian
