Don't ditch the Oxford comma Christine!

While even Oxford University has stopped using the Oxford comma, you shouldn't stop (nor wil I!) As someone who writes in the tech industry, it is useful for clarity and specificity. I suspect Steve would say the same for his industrial clients too.

And in an era where we need to be as explicit and specific as possible, and an era where online writing is getting shorter and taking more shortcuts, this is one I'm not willing to compromise on. I may use online abbreviations, shortcuts, etc., the Oxford (or serial) comma is one that won't be leaving my writing ever.

Just finished a couple assignments, but when not working on a client project, I've been working on a website I'm upgrading--about water & wastewater treatment plant safety. I know that sounds very exciting (it is to me!) - but it's still good writing practice. I like variety in my reading materials. Right now I'm reading The Magnolia Story (about the Fixer-Uppers, Chip & Joanna Gaines). And my issue of Writer's Digest. And my issue of Water Environment & Technology. And a Kindle Book called Mini Habits: Smaller Habits, Bigger Results.

I'm glad to hear someone else proofs their emails and FB posts. When I see some of the errors made in these, I'm always amazed. Hey, does this mean I can't use the Oxford Comma anymore? ~cb
