“Yes, it’s spec, but when you suggest they put it into their newsletter, they may take you up on it. Ask them to let you know when they publish the article. (Be sure and let them know it’s not a freebie.)”

If the article isn’t a freebie, what exactly is it? I’m totally new to all this. Is it paid then? If so, who decides what the amount is? Like would this be if they already typically pay for articles they would have a standard rate and you want to be sure and let them know that’s what you expect?
