Thanks, Cecelia! I understand what you mean. I guess the analogy I'd make would be a series. Each book has its own dramatic structure, but the overall series will have its own structure, too. Life is a lot like that. My "career" right now is just a very limited portion of what I foresee for myself and want to accomplish. But really, that's just a small part of what this overall story will be and I can't see where it ends up yet.
So if you want to jet off to Aruba before writing that sequel, I see nothing wrong with that! :)

I love this article John. I can see particularly how being clear and descriptive about the Rising Action part will be helpful to keep us moving ahead.

What I don't like so much about Freytag's little pyramid is that pointy-peak where the Climax is. I will draw my Climax so that it is s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out over a bit of distance. Not exactly a plateau because we know that plateaus can be dangerous. But still - if I were to determine the appropriate Rising Action to make - say a million dollars - I would like to be able to enjoy my Book 1 by repeating that same Rising Action a few times before I need to write the sequel.

Just kidding (sort of) and I know I'm deliberately misinterpreting his meaning.

Still....... couldn't I stop having to exert so much pressure for just a little while? Maybe I'm lazy but I do want to enjoy it all too:)

Thanks for the article.
